Coming back to a software post after a long time! Over the last one year, my command over

English has worsened and I hope to work on it from today. Coming to my software review, I

would be talking about windows 7. Although, there are many sites which give you what Win 7

is, it would be unfair for my software sense to ignore writing about it.

Disclaimer: I am a fan of apple, but I like win 7 too :)

Let me break it up into 3 parts.

1. Aesthetics

2. Processing

4. Comfort and Functionality

The aesthetics – Win 7 wears a sweet, easy on eye, no strain attire. Taking the task bar to

the windows, its pretty light on the eye although it uses Vista’s aero. Its more like, Vista

minus its crappy overload. The look invites you to an extent and is definitely a plus to Win

7. The themes are awesome, picture this, you select a few images to be your desktop

background and program it change every 1, 3, 5, or 30 minutes. It does it wonderfully, but

still not satisfied? Win 7 goes a step further and gets wallpapers similar to the ones you

selected from the net without your knowledge and cycles it as the desktop background. I had

a theme called apple which had universe, galaxies and stars as background wallpapers. I

observed that there were some more amazing wallpapers being put up as my wallpaper. I assume

that it grabs the pictures according to your file name. But this is one cool feature.

The processing – Program are faster, battery life seems to be better. Vista used to drain

the battery in 65 minutes, this makes it up to 90 minutes. Booting and shutting down is

whole lot faster and definitely saves time.

Comfort and functionality – In order to do some justice, this has to be written along with a

few screen shots.

hovering

The taskbar has this explorer icon which has all the windows stacked within thus un cluttering your taskbar. When you hover over a window, the other become transparent making the window of importance in focus. The same with the Alt Tab function. The show desktop is on the right and is easy as you have to hover over it just for seeing the desktop and not going to it. The stacking works for all the programs which is opened. Another cool feature is to pin up the programs to the taskbar and by right clicking it, it shows a list of recently opened files related to that software.

Anyway, I plan to cut it short and talk about the feature which many haven’t discussed. Everyone knows the “shake”, the “comparison” features. There is a cool snipping tool which takes the screen shot of your screen selected area and saves it as jpg. The other feature is “Libraries”, thank god, Microsoft finally realized, people have documents, music everywhere! All you have to do is create a library, which is sort of a shortcut for all the folders of a particular kind to be in one location. Ease of use.

There has been a lot of easy navigate techniques in Windows 7 which makes using the OS a real good experience. Its easier, faster and more comfortable. For those who haven’t watched out a few good stuff in the Win 7 website, I would recommend you to do so.

Ciao! Will be back later with some update !

BTW, this post is through win 7 live writer.
