Google Buzz made its noise, buzzed and went down the drain ! At least for me, it has. Trust me, Orkut is pretty popular in India and don’t ask about Brazil. Orkut is a day to day necessity in Brazil. What would I do if I was designing Buzz / Gmail ?
- Give the users the option to have buzz in a separate window and have the feeds coming in at a separate label
- Have it simplified with lots of privacy options! I would like to create groups, use the address groups or let only my friends see it. Not everyone who has accidentally opted to follow or join buzz. The “follow or people following me” is a bit awkward.
- Have the twitter, facebook model out of the system and come up with something different and trust me the model I have in my mind is path breaking! (but Google has to hire me for that. Me, not spilling the beans)
- Ignoring the labs: Have productivity tools incorporated in gmail, like your documents, calendar etc and have a separate side label for such things and let the user decide. Think about it, one click on the side label, and you get summary / selected information according to the user corresponding to calendar, documents, groups, sites, news, project document updates etc. Make a feed system cum edit feature available. This would make gmail a all in one productive webpage!
- I have begun to like windows live mail, may be gmail can offer a high end java version with similar aesthetics as an option.
- Have google desktop so tuned that you can do everything on the gadgets on the desktop rather than logging onto web. (is this what Chrome OS going to do?)
